memorable band intros
I gotta admit I'm a sucker for the band introduction.
Other than Bill Graham's 8-13-75 which is probably the best one ever,
the boys are itchin and finally release that help>slip>franklins,
and Phil's "Jones' Gang" from Colgate '77 :-D,
I was wondering if anyone out there has other favorites.
Oh I forgot, "the Goddam Grateful dead from the Fillmore 70
and other John Scher nasally intros. Any opinions out there?
69-03-01 "the american version of the magnificent seven, the grateful dead...'
04-23-69
I like the Harpur College banter, 5-2-1970 from the acoustic set.
My all time favorite, hands down 2-14-70 "The Goddamm Grateful Dead ?"
By my old friend, John Zacherle, who turned me (and all of New York City)
on to so much music, I will be eternally grateful.
How could anybody skip over the obvious? "Ladies and gentlemen,
The Grateful Dead."
6/7&8/80 the "official" 15th Anniversary shows.
John Scher introduces the band and mentions the beginning
of the "2nd 15 years". which unfortunately was all too true.
9/2/83 Phils Intro in Boise
"Citizens of Boise, SUBMIT for you are a Conquered People"
Not Really an Intro but still cool.
Consider this a request 'cause this was a show I put on the
backburner for soo long that it was too late on LMA
I always LOVED the band intro (done by the band) during
Satisfaction on 7-7-86. Some Weir at his liquored up finest.
"We'd also like fuc*, we'd also like to thank Mr Phillip Lesh on the bass...."
I bust agut laughing every time I hear it!!!
W. Gravy's intro from 2-9-73, "....the rainbow makers"
