CDR Trading FAQ

Trading Information

I use Taiyo Yuden Unbranded 80's CDR blanks that I purchase on a spindle of 100 for trading, and use Tyvek sleeves for mailing. I don't use jewel cases, so if you need them, keep them and use sleeves. Jewel cases just add to the postage weight.

  • I use, and recommend,1st Class postage to send the CDs in the following manner.
  1. The CDR blanks are in Tyvek sleeves, no jewel cases, inside a non fiber padded envelope.
  2. This package is placed inside a prestamped and addressed Bubble mailer box or tyvek envelope.
  3. This is then put in another outer envelope for mailing to the parent or trader.
All the above packaging is available at Walmart or office supply store.
  • CDs will be labeled in the clear inner ring of the CD, not on the emulsion. Please never write on the backing label provided.
  • All the information, including source info, setlists, CD breaks, and scanned cover art, that I have gathered on the specific CDs is available on this web, by clicking on the date in my list.

Info for people who send me B&P's

I have made an investment in quality equipment, you should invest in quality materials, so that you can take advantage of my investment.

I will give you at least a 10 day to 2 week notice before B&P time so there are no excuses about not being able to get the proper things ahead of time and just hold the package ready to drop in the mail when i send you the B&P time announcement.

  • My equipment is fussy about blank CDR stock so ALWAYS check with me in an email to see what is "Certified" to work with the machine, before you bother sending. Make sure it is for at least a 4x acceptability.

Known Good Media; Taiyo Yuden, TDK certified plus, Kodak Gold, Mitsui, Fujifilm, Sony, DISC,
Known Bad Media; Memorex, Hi Val, Imation, Maxell, Verbatim

  • NO Fiber filled padded envelopes, they shed on the blank disks and I won't put them in my duplicator.
  • I will send you my mailing address when I have listened to and test written the source CDs, and make sure they can be duplicated, not before.

IMPORTANT CHANGE

  • For 4 or more CDs, get sleeves, Case Logic padded double sleeves are the best, and DON'T SEND JEWEL CASES they add to the weight and cause suspicion at the post office. My post office is a federal court house and they are very picky with security and for some reason they think i look suspicious and always metal detector and xray anything i bring in, the bigger the package the more likely it will get opened and delayed. This is no longer funny and some people have taken 10 days to get priority mail delivered due to the Postal security. 10 CDs can be sent in padded sleeves in a priority mailer box for the same postage as 3 CDs in jewel cases. Always tell me what the CDs are for
  • For 3 CDs or less ,the new CDR blanks that you got, are unopened, still in sealed jewel cases, and a NOTE telling me what tree this B&P is, I branch many trees at the same time, inside a non fiber padded envelope. (AKA envelope 1)
  • Remembering, NO Fiber filled padded envelopes, as they shed on the disks and I won't put them in my duplicator.
  • This envelope, (AKA envelope 1), is placed inside a prestamped and addressed bubble mailer, "video" box or "flat rate" envelope. (AKA package 2).
  • This package, (AKA package 2), is then put in a "Larger" outer envelope for mailing to me. And yes it will require yet another stamp or i won't get it. No C.O.D. OR Postage Due B&P's are accepted ever.
  • When sending me a B&P never send postage money, send stamps so the finished package can just be dropped in any corner mail box. Make sure your postage is correct i will not add any additional postage i'll just not put a return address on the package and drop it in the mailbox, chances are you'll never get it.
  • My Post Office is also a federal courthouse and requires metal detectors and x-rays to enter the building, I go there as little as possible, don't make me go there to mail your package.  This reality can delay mailing by weeks, to avoid intrusive searches that add to my cynicism in the government.
  • Thinking again to yourself, as you mail it to me, that you are glad you didn't use Fiber filled padded envelopes, because they shed on the disks and I won't put them in my duplicator.
  • I do B&P's as part of my commitment when I sign up as a CD to CD branch in a CD tree, this does not mean I am to assume responsibility, liability and/or risk damage to my equipment, because of your failure to follow the instructions above. I will send back, unopened any B&P that does not conform with the FAQ above.
  • The priority postage is up to you, as you can always wrap the above package in brown paper and mail it whatever rate you want. As long as the packaging formula is followed, NO FIBER PADDED ANYTHING, NOTHING that will be statically attracted to the surface of the blank CD.
  • I try for a "Next day" turnaround on all B&P's, Wednesday through Sunday.
  • That means Saturdays are good days for you to send, all B&Ps are done in the order of properly followed instructions and then by arrival.
  • The less i have to do, the quicker you get back your CDs, it's that easy.

CD Copier-One on One Standalone

I recently bought an INSC standalone CD duplicator just so I could start taking part in the CD trees, here are the machine's specs.

O3-RW4X

OneOnOne with one 4X recorder and one 20X reader with hard drive
Make spare backup copies of your favorite software on permanent, durable media.
Produce disks quickly and economically.
No mastering or multimedia experience is required.
Instantly duplicate CD-ROM disks for software distribution
Creates perfect duplicates.
Self-contained duplication system - no computer required.
Internal shock mounted E-IDE A/V certified hard drive
Multimedia  processor with 32MB synchronous RAM cache buffer
Duplicates in 16 minutes at 4X
Can be used for premastering

How does it work?
Insert your original disk in the CD-ROM drive and also insert a blank 74M SureData by INSC or other manufacturers in the 4X recorder. Press "NEXT" button on the keypad and choose "Test" or "Write" button by pressing the appropriate key. The CD Copier One on One quickly copies the content of the disc to the 4X recorder. The LCD will display actual duplication time and upon completion the CD tray will open automatically and the message "Write successful" will display on the LCD screen.
To make additional copies simply insert blank disc in the recorder and make as many copies as you like. You'll produce identical, bit-for-bit duplicates. This system is totally self-contained - no connection to a PC or Mac is required to copy discs.

Just plug in the power cord and wait for the LCD to display "Welcome to INSC CDCopier-SA". Press Next and choose Write or Test button—it is that simple.
